let’s work together to win together

  • A Metabolic Renewal at Midlife

In just a few months of working together on lifestyle changes, this 54-year-old client reduced her A1c from 10.4% to 6.5%, achieving exceptional glycemic control. After we discussed how to partner with her doctor, she was able to simplify her medication regimen and reduce side effects. Her weight decreased from 146 to 125 pounds. Most importantly, she emerged from the process feeling strong, energized, and in control of her health.

  • Correcting a critical misdiagnosis

A young adult client initially was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, despite showing signs of type 1 diabetes. Left untreated, this oversight would have led to critical metabolic complications. Within three months of working together, the client had started the right medication and monitoring tools, and felt confident managing their nutrition. At their next labs, their A1c had dropped from 11% to 6.1%, without a single hypoglycemic episode.

  • A father's renewed vitality

A father in his 50s joined with an A1c of 10.6% and complained of chronic back pain and limited activity. Our partnership supported him through dietary improvements and rekindled his love of hiking with his sons. Eight months after starting our journey, we met again. He had discontinued multiple pain medications and progressively challenged himself with tougher hikes. His A1c declined to 6.4%, a milestone celebrated by both him and his physician.

“Working with Kate was the best decision during my pregnancy with gestational diabetes. She provided expert guidance on nutrition and meal planning, gave realistic activity recommendations, and helped me manage blood sugar without feeling deprived. I loved that she was always available by text or phone, making support accessible when I needed it most. She even showed me healthy substitutes for my favorite snacks so I could enjoy treats while staying on track. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, supportive gestational diabetes dietitian who makes nutrition simple and sustainable, I highly recommend her!”

  • Sovereignty, Science, and a CGM: A Data-Driven Health Turnaround

Over Christmas, my adult children were visiting and I had been dealing with an uncomfortable UTI for several weeks. One of my kids suggested I put a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) on to see what was going on with my blood sugar. I was shocked - my blood glucose was over 300 and wasn’t going down much.

Since I’m fed up with our medical care in the US and did not want to sign myself up for that level of invasion into my personal sovereignty, one of my kids had heard about “The Signature Plate” from their program with life insurance labs. My kids  said, while they understood I could probably solve this on my own, it might be a good idea to have some guidance.

I reached out to Kate to see if she was open to working with me in a confidential manner, like she did with her life insurance clients. Kate got to know me and my “issues” - I mean all of them. Like my total distrust of our health industrial complex.  But also my commitment to having a long health span.  Kate also got to know that I loved research and helped me see this effort as a research project.

Kate encouraged me to research experiments I might want to try to improve my numbers. She dialed me into different options. I would run ideas by her to see if they made any sense. She’d tell me what to watch out for and where what I was proposing was well researched and worth a try. She helped me calibrate my BS meter from information I was getting from Chat GPT and random advice I was getting.

Kate made it clear that I was ultimately responsible for taking charge of my own health - she was the guide on the side, inspiring me to develop more awareness of what was driving my metabolic health.  She was NOT a replacement for me having a primary care physician and let me know what the risks and warning signs were. I appreciated that she would work with me under these terms.

While this was not our objective, I did lose 35 pounds (and kept it off) in four months (the good news is I never felt hungry or deprived either.)  By six months, my daily average blood sugar was 100, and now rarely spikes over 130. I even improved my sleeping by figuring out what was causing my blood sugar to spike at night.

I am much more aware of how having a stable blood glucose level and metabolic flexibility is crucial for me to stay healthy, and how to make that my day to day reality.  That infection at Christmas quickly went away and has not returned.
